Free Brick Textures

by VQ No Comments »

In case you didn’t know, we’re all designers or developers at ClickPop. As such, we’re always looking for great stuff to help with our designs. Recently, Weese and I were in need of some textures of different types. So we set off on a quest around town to find the most splendid textures our neighborhood has to offer.

We managed to get some really useful textures, and we thought you might be able to use some of them as well. This week we have a bunch of brick textures. Let us know if you liked these, and would be interested in some of the other textures we amassed. Four more textures and a link to the zip are after the jump.

Indonesian Batik Wallpaper

by VQ 4 Comments »

I’m finishing up a cool vector swatch based on a beautiful Indonesian batik. In anticipation of that freebie, I wanted to offer another one, our first wallpaper offering. Keep in mind, although the pattern is quite nice, it can get a little hard on the eyes. I hope you enjoy them.

Cool Rollover Effects with Filters

by Paul 6 Comments »

Above is a little example menu I made for a fake game called “Top Secret.” Don’t expect a game to start when you click on the Play button. Instead, when you click a button you will get a little menu to change the rollover effects of said button.

What I’m going to be talking about for the next… however long you read this, is how to recreate these cool effects for your own projects. Hopefully you will come up with some better ideas for using filters then just rollover effects.

Free Vectors: Penguins!

Penguins

We’re working on revamping certain parts of the site right now… Actually, we always seem to be revamping some part of the site at all times. Sometimes the revamps are minor, boring little usability things, and sometimes they’re more interesting. We don’t generally announce every time we upgrade something, but this time we couldn’t help ourselves.

You see, this revamp involves penguins. You read that right, glorious penguins.

Along with being a neato blog that gives away free vectors, textures, pixel paterns, and flash things, and offers tutorials on illustrator, web programming, flash, photoshop, etc, we’re also a new media marketing and web development company. We do all sorts of projects, for all sorts of people. Sometimes it’s web design, other times we do web app development, and sometimes we set up viral marketing campaigns and social advertising internet campaigns for some really cool companies.

We don’t advertise ourselves much on our blog, and that will probably stay the same, but we are soon going to be changing our “About” tab to a “Services” page that would really help show off our ClickPopSkills. And like I said, there will be penguins.

So have some fun with the cute little penguin chick, fun-loving rockhopper penguin, regal king penguin, and awe-inspiring emperor penguin.

2-D Sean!

by Weese 1 Comment »

This week is the third installment of Painting Panels!!! (I just made that name up, yea, I know, I’m pretty clever…I should start a TV show) What we’ve got for you is a spray painted vector character of Sean with some of VQ’s famed speech bubbles. To be honest, the boss man (VQ) came up with all the characters too, I just painted them…

Maybe you should go check out weare.clickpopmedia.com to see the last two weeks along with this one. A Painted Panel Tri-Vecta! Well, that’s all the painting I did today. Have a lovely day, peace out, the Lord bless you.

Creating an XML Gallery with ActionScript 3.0

by Paul 8 Comments »

For any dynamic Flash project, XML will be a powerful tool. One of the most common examples (and one of the simplest) is a picture gallery like the one I have here:

Images came from http://www.stockvault.net/

I will be talking about how to use Flash and XML to make a simple, yet superfly, gallery.
